Directions to PLUC

  The Future of PLUC

We are happy to announce that we have received a Transformational Church Grant from the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to support us as we explore new directions and ministries during the next few years. What does it mean to transform? “To transform/redevelop a congregation is to redirect its ministry in response to significant changes that may have taken place either among its membership or in the larger community it serves.” (Living the Vision: Congregational Transformation, Boots). 

Over the next five to seven years, we will be engaging in a ministry plan intended to grow spiritual energy and a greater sense of community within our congregation, and then to reach out to
1) the underprivileged in the Keweenaw
2) students, faculty and staff of Michigan Technological University and Finlandia University
3) international students, faculty members, and their families
4) the growing number of senior citizens in our area. 

Our goals for Year One of the ministry plan are to build a greater sense of community within our congregation, to grow in our faith, to develop strong lay leadership, to look toward the future with anticipation, and to strengthen our financial base. We trust God to guide this congregation as it seeks to be faithful in new ways for new times.
